Remembering Michael Smith

We are very sad to announce that Michael Smith, a former 4th XI captain & boys' youth team manager in the 1990s & early 2000s, has passed away after a long illness.

Michael was very passionate about cricket in his own quiet way and will always be remembered by those that knew him for the vital role he played in helping to re-establish both a Saturday 4th team after six seasons when we were only able to field three sides and - most significantly - boys youth cricket in the mid 1990s.

Our condolences go to all his family. RIP Michael and thank you so much for your contribution to cricket at Golden Hill at such a critical period in the club’s history, which formed the basis of our subsequent expansion and was crucial in securing the ECB loan that helped purchase the ground.
