News: Spicer snaffles nine for second time (17/06/08)
YMCA 3rd XI v Stoke Bishop 2nd XI
Following Andy Spicer's remarkable figures of 9/26 against Stoke Bishop on Saturday, he was rewarded by being named as the Evening Post's Cricketer of the Week. Here's what the paper had to say....

Earlier in the day, stand-in skipper Gerry Davis had top scored with 35 as YMCA posted a total of 214/9 off their 45 overs. This was too much for Stoke Bishop to chase down as Dr Spicer dismissed them for just 90.

| Kirk - great start to the season has earned him promotion |
YMCA 2nd XI v Hampset 2nd XI
For the second week in a row, the Second Eleven were involved in a very tightly contested match. Despite only having lost three wickets, YMCA were left still needing 56 runs off the final 10 overs to reach the target of 177. However Peter Kirk (38) and James Norris (38) kept accelerating the run rate to take YM in sight of victory. An unbeaten 14 by skipper Keith Milsom, who came in at number seven, saw YM over the line. Kirk, who also took 4/24 with the ball, has been called up the the First Team for this week's match against Phoenix West Indies due to his excellent start to the season.
Blagdon 1st XI v YMCA 1st XI
The First Eleven recorded their most convincing win of the season with an eight wicket win over Blagdon. The new opening bowling partnership of John Colley (3/41) and Chris Dowle (3/34) proved to be a success, whilst Simon White (3/17) picked up some late innings wickets. Blagdon therefore managed just 122 and this was chased down with ease by James Steven (46) and Steve Donoghue (41*).

| Ashraf - 3 wickets and 73 runs |
Bedminster 4th XI v YMCA 4th XI
Thanks to another fine knock by newcomer Aqib Ashraf (73), it looked as though Ed Hollinghurst's side were on course to chase down a victory target of 196 set by Bedminster. However YMCA lost their last six wickets for just 47 runs, handing Bedminster a 42 run win. Earlier, Ashraf had also three wickets and there was a very impressive bowling spell by Chris Watts (2/22). Both players have been promoted to the Third Team this week.
YMCA 5th XI v Chipping Sodbury 5th XI
A second half century in the space of two weeks by Nigel Sara (57) wasn't enough to stop the 5th XI being defeated by Chipping Sodbury. In the match played at Hillesley, Sodbury chased down the target of 198 for the loss of five wickets.
