An incredible display of bowling yesterday from the Fourth Eleven's quartet of young bowlers secured victory over Pak Bristolians for the first time. Leading the attack, Wayne Lush returned figures of 4/30 and was well supported by Leon Gregor (2/27), Chris Watts (2/0) and Aqib Ashraf (1/2).
Having been put into bat by Pak Bristolians, the Fourth Eleven posted the imposing total of 206/7 thanks to impressive knocks from Richard Hughes (54), Tom Chard (27) and veteran Gerry Mulholland (49). After the interval, YMCA wrapped up victory in the sixteenth over as Pak Bristolians were dismissed for just 71.
Meanwhile, the First Eleven continued their great start to the season with a six wicket win at St George. John Colley (4/49) was again amongst the wickets, as St George were restricted to 147/8 off their 45 overs. In reply, newcomer Matt Wells (43) top scored with the bat, as YMCA reached the target with over seven overs remaining.
At Golden Hill, Tim Lush (4/27) matched his son's heroics, as Portishead could only manage 130/8 against the second Eleven. Despite stuttering to 24/3, Keith Milsom's side achieved a relatively comfortable victory with three wicket and 14 balls remaining. Peter Kirk scored his first 50 of the season.
The only defeat of the day came with the Third Eleven losing to Timsbury by just seven runs. Senior bowlers, Andy Spicer (5/29) and Shaun Parker (4/24), gave impressive performances to bowl Timsbury out for 144. At 70/1 after 25 overs, Rich Wilson's side looked to be on course for victory. However, the required rate was allowed to increase too much and, needing 57 off the last 10 overs, the home side left themselves too much to do.
