News: Football goes Super-Sonic at Golden Hill (09/04/08)
Thanks to a positive outcome from the long-awaited 'football summit' held by former Director of Football, Richie Wilson Golden Hill's senior and junior football clubs have joined forces to provide safe and well organised amateur soccer for footballers of all ages and abilities.

As a result of the ground breaking meeting, Golden Hill Sports FC, and their younger counterparts at Golden Hill Sonics (formerly known as Henleaze Sonics), have agreed to form - what is sure to be - a formidable alliance. Both parties will work together to establish Golden Hill as a premier soccer venue in the district. The Sonics, who are already experiencing considerable success in Bristol's youth leagues, will seek to expend their age ranges so that - in several years time - the first batch of talented Sonic players will be challenging for selection in the senior set up.
The fortunes of both clubs have been boosted this season by the generous support of the Football Foundation - who have made a £20,000 grant available to help us secure the ground and in turn develop football at GHS. Indeed, it is widely recognised that the superbly maintained pitches, welcoming club house and spacious changing rooms were a key factor in securing Golden Hill Sports FC's acceptance into the prestigious Bristol Suburban League in 2008/2009. The first teams rapid rise up the FA pyramid paves the way for the introduction of a senior reserve side next season and an ideal stepping stone for Sonics' talented youngsters as they progress into adult football.
