The publication of the latest Club Records may be a little behind schedule but, for the past and present second-teamers, its been worth the wait thanks to their record-breaking achievements.
The newly compiled statistics show that, once again, it was our second eleven who lead the way on the batting front. During the 2004 season they equalled the record for the highest number of runs in a league match - set at 260 runs during the previous season at University Staff's home ground in Coombe Dingle.
However, Phil Dowle's 2004 squad take top spot on the basis of losing less wickets (four) than the previous record (five). The 2nd X1 now hold the top four all-time highest innings totals and with a powerful batting line this season, who would beat against them improving on this impressive fact
Meanwhile, Ben Milsom's much publicised unbeaten innings of 124 takes it rightful place as the second highest league score in the club's long history and also the highest score ever made by a YMCA cricketer batting at No3.
Finally, a set of new records, which illustrates the longest consecutive number of wins or losses by any of our four league sides show that the 2nd X1 teams of 2000 and 2001 were the most successful on record. Shaun Parker's men secured 15 successive victories between July 2000 and June 2001, winning the 2nd X1 Division two title in the process.
