Riley, who has only made the occasional appearance for the YM in recent years, has found more time to commit to Saturday cricket in 2004. As a result, the Bristol Cathedral School student has been able to play himself into top form and produce a string of impressive performances culminating in an accomplished score of 80 for the Third Eleven against Frenchay CC on Saturday.
Since May, the 15 year old has amassed 182 runs at an average of 45, runs that Phil Dowle’s team will warmly welcome, if Riley can continue his fine form. The glut of runs already places Riley just one run behind 10th placed Roger Davis in the list of ‘Most League runs in a season’ for the Third Eleven.

We caught up with Riley and asked him about his ambitions are for the remainder of the season. “I would really like to help the Thirds win the league because the atmosphere is brilliant, with the more experienced players really helping and developing youth cricket within the adult leagues.”
However, with his deserved promotion to the Seconds, Riley’s contributions to the Third Team’s title chase will have to be put on ice for the moment. But, either way, Tom’s certainly leading ‘The Life of Riley” just now!!
