| Stiddard – uses his power and coordination to great effect |
Beefy batsmen, Grant Stiddard’s superb early season form, which has included innings of 64 and 66, has confirmed what the YMCA’s statistics already shows………..that, when it comes to making scores of fifty, there’s no-one quite like Stiddard!
The hard hitting right-hander from Lockleaze has the best ratio of ‘half-centuries made’ to ‘innings played’ out of any YMCA cricketer since the records began in 1953 – and that’s before he recently added to his 2003 tally of 13 fifties from only 60 innings!
And the First Teamer is in very good company too. Of those players who have recorded ten or more half centuries in senior cricket for the club, Stiddard’s record of scoring a fif y every 4.6 matches comfortably beats second placed Mike Hutton (6.7 matches), a member of the YMCA’s All-Time Greatest Eleven.

But Stiddard had better watch out, level headed young batsmen, John Sykes is fast approaching the benchmark of ten half centuries (seven to date) and has, so far, achieved this feat with an impressive regularity of a score of 50 or more every 5.4 matches.
The Challenge is on to become Golden Hill’s top 50-maker!
