Gloucestershire Cricket Board are once again on the lookout for talented young cricketers aged 16-24 from your club to take part in a competition that could see them receiving further recognition through the Gloucestershire County set-up or even a fast track career to the professional game.
We are pleased to announce that this year’s Bristol Big Bash will officially be sponsored by Nando’s and formally rebranded as the Nando’s Big Bash. Now in its third year and with the success of previous years it has gone from strength to strength. This year we aim to extend the competition with this new and exciting partnership.
Promising local cricketers have the opportunity to play alongside and against many of their friends over the course of three Sundays in August. The match days will be great events with food, music, pink cricket balls and coloured clothing all to replicate the International T20 stage. These matches are completely FREE for all participants.
The action-packed T20 competition sees IPL-styled franchise teams going head to head to be crowned City Champs. The winners will then go on to represent Bristol in the regional finals against Cardiff with aims to proceed on to the national finals at New Road, Leicestershire CCC later this year.
The competition kicks-off with a launch night, this year held on the 27th July, where all registered players will take part in various skilled challenges with both bath and ball such as range hitting, testing bowling speeds as well as a number of fun fielding exercises before receiving a presentation outlining further details about the competition and announcement of the teams.
The traditional pathway to become a professional cricketer is usually through county representative cricket, independent schools or higher education including university cricket. The Nando’s Big Bash has been set up to provide an alternative pathway.
In addition to taking part in the competition, each participant will receive a FREE match day ticket to attend Gloucestershire v Hampshire NatWest T20 Blast on Friday 28th July.
