Golden Hill Sonics

Golden Hill Sonics is a parent run football club, which welcomes boys and girls (from any local school) in years 2 to 6. Sessions are run at Golden Hill on Saturday mornings between 10.00am and 11.30am. We do not train on Saturdays adjacent to the half term / Easter holidays.

In 2007, Golden Hill Socics became part of Golden Hill Sports and is affiliated to the Gloucester Football Association, which covers North Bristol.

During the sessions we organise football training, exercises and mini-games for the children. We also play regular matches against other local clubs and participate in an end of season tournament. Home games are at the Golden Hill Sports ground. Away games are nearby.

Our aim is to have fun. We want all the children to enjoy the football training, exercises and matches in a supportive environment as developed by the coach and helpers. We hope that all the children will improve their footballing ability and sportsmanship, and progress to enjoy the game in the future.

In order to achieve this goal:

The coach shall plan and organise a constructive training session in which all children are encouraged to try their best in a positive, unpressurised environment.

The helpers shall help the children understand the exercises and encourage them.

The children shall:

• pay attention to the coach and helper
• participate in the exercises
• behave in an appropriate manner

The parents or guardians shall ensure that:

• children arrive with boots and shin pads
• children have clothing suitable for the conditions and some refreshment
• the training session / match is going ahead before leaving their child since bad weather may cause cancellation
• children are collected on time

The club fees are £35 per child payable in advance per year. These funds go to pay for balls, kits, and other miscellaneous items.

Each year group will have a maximum of 20 children per group with a waiting list created once the maximum number of 20 has been reached. The waiting list will be operated on a first on the list first off basis. The limit of 20 is to ensure each coach manages the year group as effectively as possible as well as giving the children an  opportunity to play in the match teams against local clubs.

It is expected that parents or guardians of year 2 children will remain on site. For children in years 3-6 who are left, it is assumed that they are responsible enough to remain within the immediate area of the training session or match. However, parents and guardians are encouraged to stay and watch either the training sessions or the matches and help the coaches set up when asked, especially on match days.

The coach reserves the right to suspend a child from the training session for an appropriate period of time for misbehaviour. In the event of an injury and the absence of the parent / guardian the coach will decide on the appropriate course of action.

A lost property bag is maintained and kept on site during training sessions. Unclaimed lost property will be given to charity at the end of each term.

Very Important
As the club is run by volunteer parents, we always need extra offers of help on either a regular or irregular basis. Without this help some of the year groups may not be able to continue. If you can help in any way, especially on match days, please speak with the relevant coach in your child’s year group.
